Conservation management plans

What is a conservation management plan (CMP)?

A CMP is a document that helps guide the conservation management of a heritage property. They are generally comprehensive, detailed and must not be written to justify a specific development. They identify opportunities and problems, and define solutions. Depending on the project there will be a range of interested parties including communities. (from Statement of best practice for conservation management plans, NSW Government)

1. 2025 Conservation Management Plan, Blue Sox Developments commissioned its heritage consultants, Urbis, to write a CMP. This was completed in May 2024 but not made publicly available until 2025.

Blue Sox decided to make this 340-page document available as "read only", ie it can't be downloaded, printed, emailed, or copied/pasted. Despite being asked multiple times to make it more user-friendly Blue Sox decided not to so we've gone through the time-consuming process of screen-shotting each page and creating a Word document.

You can download a copy of this CMP by clicking on this link. Note that it's a 256-page 66mb Word document and because we've had to screenshot the Blue Sox document, its resolution is slightly blurry.

2. In 2021 a CMP commissioned by NSW Government prior to sale of the gaol. You can download a copy of this MSP by clicking on this link.
